about

St. Augustine wrote this beautiful prayer pertaining to the hopeful implications of Christmas:

"Let the just rejoice,
for their justifier is born.
Let the sick and infirm rejoice,
For their saviour is born.

Let the captives rejoice,
For their Redeemer is born.
Let slaves rejoice,
for their Master is born.

Let free men rejoice,
For their Liberator is born.
Let All Christians rejoice,
For Jesus Christ is born."

This Christmas, let us remember the lowly, the confused, the hurt. For it is the least of these who truly embody the spirit of Advent. Their waiting gives way to hope--Christmas hope that now points us all toward the day when our Messiah will come again to make all things new. This Christmas, let us pray for that day. Let us celebrate justice, peace, and the one who brings it--Jesus Christ, born at last.

lyrics

V1:
Let the just rejoice in God,
For the Justifier is born.
Let the sick, infirmed be healed,
For the Saviour he is born.

Let the captive sing and dance,
Let the poor rejoice.
All their tears will come to pass
For Jesus Christ is born at last.

V2:
Let the refugee find home,
For the Gracious Host is born.
Let the lonely be with God
For Emmanuel is born.

Let the widow clap her hands,
Let the weary rest.
All their tears will come to pass,
For Jesus Christ is born at last.

V3:
Let the hungry feast with joy,
For the bread of life is born.
Let the thirsty drink the wine,
For redeeming blood is born.

Let all people praise the King,
Let His Church delight.
All our tears will come to pass,
For Jesus Christ is born at last.
